Am I the last one to know one of the dueling Snow White movies was going to be a comedy?

Well, it turns out Tarsem Singh’s Mirror Mirror starring Julia Roberts most definitely is. Whether not it’s funny remains to be seen, but I have to admit I found the tone appealing and it’s not a sacrosanct story for me where tweaking is forbidden. I actually like it better than the action chord struck by the other one and it’s a huge improvement over something like Tim Burton’s murky slog Alice in Wonderland.

Mirror Mirror co-staring Lily Collins, Armie Hammer, Sean Bean and Nathan Lane opens March 16, 2012.
