It’s going to be called Carrie: Boys Don’t Cry Until They’re Telekinetically Crushed by Gymnasium Doors and then Burned to Death.
Back when this project was first announced, the justification was that screenwriter Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa who re-wrote Spider-Man: Turn of The Dark (no seriously turn it off goddamnit or I’m getting the belt!) was going to take a “more faithful” approach to the book than Brian De Palma’s 1976 film with Sissy Spacek and John Travolta, but that was already pretty reverential where it mattered and was also a pretty great movie all by itself. I don’t see the need for a do-over, but this is Sony’s money-grubbing shlock division Screen Gems so I’m pretty sure they’re not trying to improve on the original, just capitalize on the name recognition. Best of luck to them.
