Rumors have been swirling around a possible film to be directed by Abel Ferrara inspired by the case of Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund who resigned in 2011 amid accusations of rape. While neither the production company Wild Bunch nor Depardieu will confirm the project, Ferrara told French newspaper Le Monde that it’s happening and that Isabelle Adjani will play Strauss-Kahn’s wife Anne Sinclair.

Is it just wishful thinking on the part of a director desperate to keep the heat on a project he wants to get going? I don’t know. More likely it’s a matter of a producer wanting to wait until i’s are dotted, t’s are crossed and contracts are signed before talking about the project.

  1. The mention of Depardieu’s name in relation to this project amuses me.

  2. Me too. He’s not a rapist, but he’s an at times controversial Frenchman in his own ways.
