Check out nearly 6 minutes of the film at Apple:

“Cloud Atlas” explores how the actions and consequences of individual lives impact one another throughout the past, the present and the future. Action, mystery and romance weave dramatically through the story as one soul is shaped from a killer into a hero and a single act of kindness ripples across centuries to inspire a revolution in the distant future.

Directed by Tom Tykwer and Andy & Lana Wachowski from the novel by David Mitchell, Cloud Atlas stars Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Jim Broadbent, Hugo Weaving, Jim Sturgess, Doona Bae, Ben Whishaw, James D’Arcy, Xun Zhou, Keith David, David Gyasi, Susan Sarandon and Hugh Grant. It opens October 26, 2012.

  1. yes! great stuff.

headline should read “Andy and Lana”. :)

  2. I’m excited about this one. The only thing that causes me pause is the first billed name. I don’t dislike Hanks, and admired his efforts in some films, but his name has become synonymous with me for a certain brand of cinematic blandness.

  3. I’m now so interested in this, partly due to Ari’s comments on the rough cut, that I’m going to skip the trailer and try to skip as much going in as I can. The stills posted yesterday were intriguing enough to lead me to believe that the less I know, the better (ironic, yes).

  4. Personally, I cannot wait for the release of this film. The novel was amazing, I highly recommend checking it out. The weaving narrative is gimmicky but I think they just might be able to pull it off. I’m not the biggest fan of Hanks either but the trailer seemed to really showcase Hanks in the style of his “Castaway” days (which, cmon, was a great performance and great movie).
