Despicable Me (2010) Directed by Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud. Gru voiced by Steve Carell and Fred McDade voiced by Danny McBride.

Gru: Hello, Fred. FYI… your dog has been leaving little bombs all over my yard and I don’t appreciate it.
Fred: (Laughs) Sorry. You know dogs. They go wherever they want to go.
Gru: Unless they’re dead. (Laughs) I’m joking… although it is true! Anyway, have a good one!

  1. There’s no question the film does borrow heavily from the Looney Tunes and from the Pixar franchise, but it all comes down to the manner it is re-cycled and with some original touches. My family and I are fans.

  2. It’s likeable for sure. Not my favorite animated flick to come down the pipeline in the last few years, but a solid double up the middle.

One of Carell’s better pieces of work if you ask me.
