Cary Grant as Walter Burns and Rosalind Russell as Hildy Johnson

Hildy: Oh, Walter. You’re wonderful in a loathsome sort of way.

  1. perfect film

  2. Some of the best dialogue in all of moviedom is from this film. Love it so.

  3. One of the greatest screwball comedies of all time, one with a modern approach and a brilliant screenplay by Charles Lederer. This is actually the second screen version after 1931’s THE FRONT PAGE, and it centers around the conflict for women in deciding between marriage and professional careers. Rightly named by most among the great Howard Hawks’s best films.

  4. One of my all time favorites. Sam I think they redid the story at least one more time in the 80s with Burt Reynolds and Kathleen Turner. It doesn’t rate with this version, but if memory serves it wasn’t half bad.
