Interesting call on the Silver Linings Playbook love, I can really see SAG favoring it, especially DeNiro – it’s his best performance in a very long time and it wouldn’t surprise me that they would want to reward him for it.
Daniel Day-Lewis and Anne Hathaway are pretty much a slam-dunk (surprises can happen but these two have been locked and loaded since day 1). And I have no complaints about either one of them.
Since SAG has only been doing awards for 10 years or so, they haven’t had much of a chance to reward one of the best actors ever and I’ll be a little surprised if they don’t jump at the chance here, especially in a movie that a lot of people seem to love. Though it is a crowded field so who knows?
I’ll definitely be surprised if Day-Lewis and Hathaway don’t make it.
To quote EW’s Anthony Breznican and Ken Tucker in their SAG ‘who should win/who will win’ write-up: DDL is still drinking everyone else’s milkshake.
Hahaha.
Usually when someone wins all the time I get tired of them, but he’s so goddamn good and he makes Kushner’s wonderful screenplay sing.
Had Phoenix not been snubbed, I’d be co-rooting for him, but he was so I’m not.
