Fly: So’s half the fuckin’ city. So what?
Man in Black #2: Could we see your green card, mister?
Fly: Green Card? Man, what you talkin’ Green card? Green card my black ass. My people built this country, sucker. You ever been to South Carolina? Huh? My people built that.
Smokey: Can’t build a state, man.
Fly: Look, all I know is when they got off the boat there was nothin’ there. Now there’s shoppin’ malls and… um, what’s that shit… miniature golf! From nothin’! Ask me for a green card… my people was in the Revolution, Jim! How long you been here?

  2. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen this but I remember liking it. Very unique.

  3. Yes, I saw it in college when I was just “discovering” independent cinema and this was one of the cornerstones along with Stranger Than Paradise, She’s Gotta Have It, Sex Lies & Videotape etc. It holds up surprisingly well. Quite funny.
