Red Riding Roadshow in New York

Several readers have asked how the upcoming Red Riding Trilogy would be released to theaters and I was told it would be up to each venue. This morning I got this press release from the trilogy’s distributor IFC announcing that for one week beginning February 5th, the films would be presented in a “Special Roadshow [...]

All I want for Christmas is some ‘True Grit’

Joel and Ethan Coen’s adaptation of TRUE GRIT starring Jeff Bridges has been announced for Christmas 2010

‘Panic’ coming in December. Animated Oscar to 5 noms?

With the pending release of the Belgian animated A TOWN CALLED PANIC, will the Best Animated Feature category get bumped from three to five?

No ‘Tree of Life’ for Christmas

We’ve been following release date roulette with Terrence Malick’s Tree of Life for some time now, but today Anne Thompson reports that the film starring Sean Penn and Brad Pitt won’t be ready for a 2009 release. Bob Berney, the head of Apparition which is releasing the film says he hasn’t seen it and he [...]

Another Weinstein Shuffle: Nine bumped, Man set

I’m not sure which is stranger, The Weinstein Company’s habit of line up juggling or the fact it seems to freak people out so much.
Last year around this time, The Road got bumped to 2009 and it wasn’t alone. Fanboys, Crossing Over, Kill Shot and Shanghai were all once set for 2008. The first three [...]

Poster, Trailer, Release Date: Visual Acoustics

VISUAL ACOUSTICS, the documentary about architectural photographer Julius Shulman finally as a release date, a poster and a trailer.

The Michael Cera starring comedy which made it’s North American debut to positive reviews at Toronto is being pushed back from October 30 to January [...]

‘The Road’ rolls into Thanksgiving

What does it mean? Aside from the fact you’ll have to wait an extra month to see it, probably nothing.

Pencil in Bong Joon-Ho’s ‘Mother’ for 2010

In advance of it’s North American premiere at the Toronton International Film Festival, Screen Daily is reporting that Bong Joon-Ho’s Mother (which we just trailered a couple of days ago and which is much anticipated here around the LiC head offices ) has been picked up for US distribution by Magnolia Pictures with a plan [...]

Scorsese’s ‘Shutter Island’ shuttered for 2009?

Nikki Finke is reporting that Martin Scorsese’s upcoming Shutter Island starring Leonardo DiCaprio has been bumped from Oscar friendly October 2009 to February 19th, 2010.
According to a Finke insider, though the film tested in the 80s/low 90s (whatever that means), Paramount doesn’t have the coin to properly market an awards flick this year.
Being on the [...]
