Anthony Dod Mantle’s terrific work on Lars Von Trier’s misunderstood and unfairly maligned Antichrist didn’t make my own Top 5 for some reason yet I was really happy to see it take the Muriel this year.
Here’s how I voted:
1. Christopher Doyle, Limits of Control
2. Mihai Malaimare Jr., Tetro
3. Roger Deakins, A Serious Man
4. Greig Fraser, [...]

With people trying to turn “Chaos Reigns” from Lars Von Trier’s Antichrist into a t-shirt friendly catch phrase, it was probably inevitable that some smarty would make the connection between Antichrist, Willem Dafoe, talking foxes and Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr. Fox… and now Peter Debruge has. It’s not embeddable, but it’s sort of funny. Check [...]

There’s been a new trailer for Lars von Trier’s vomitacular Antichrist up at Apple for at least 4 hours now and I’m apparently the only person on god’s green earth who can get it to play. I even had to rip off the above trailer cap from AICN because I couldn’t make one myself.

Talk continues to swirl around Lars von Trier’s Antichrist and reviews continue to trickle in as Variety announces that the film has been picked up for US distribution by IFC along with Ken Loach’s Looking for Eric.
At SpoutBlog, I think Karina Longworth’s review benefits from coming after the initial wave of hype. There’s a sobriety [...]

Are those the Cannes critics he’s humping her on top of?
O Cannes buzz. How I love to ride your currents, winding this way and wending that. A couple of observations before launching into yesterday’s films:
Originally I thought Jane Campion’s Bright Star was on people’s lips as the Palme D’Or favorite, but more and more I’m [...]

Here’s another trailer for Lars von Trier’s creepy-cabin-in-the-woods story starring Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg.
I’m liking it. It seems to mix some of the creepiness and foreboding of J-Horror with something else altogether more Lars von Trier-y.
