You’ve read the reviews, you’ve seen the poster, now Apple has the trailer for Nicole Holofcener’s Please Give starring Catherine Keener, Oliver Platt, Amanda Peet and Rebecca Hall.
It opens on April 30th.

Poster: Please Give

Nicole Holofcener’s Please Give popped on to LiC radar with a slew of mostly favorable reviews out of Sundance and now Hitfix debuts the official poster for the film starring Catherine Keener and Oliver Platt as a Manhattan couple waiting for their aging neighbor to die off so they can expand into the apartment next [...]

700 miles from Sundance 2010: Kristen Stewart is a hit as Jett

Kristen Stewart is solid as Joan Jett but it sounds like Michael Shannon steals the show in THE RUNAWAYS, while Philip Seymour Hoffman’s directorial debut JACK GOES BOATING is an acting showcase and the Duplass Brothers turn up with their most mainstream film to date with CYRUS starring John C. Reilly, Marisa Tomei, Jonah Hill and Catherine Keener

700 miles from Sundance 2010: Please Give, Waiting for Superman, Welcome to the Rileys, Four Lions and Buried

Sundance round-up: Holofcener, Guggenheim tackles education, Kristin Stewart strips for James Gandolini, a Jihadist farce, but Ryan Reynolds BURIED in a box might be the find of the festival.

Review: Where the Wild Things Are (2009) ****

Spike Jonze’s adaptation of Maurice Sendak’s beloved children’s story should appeal to imaginative children and adults who still remember their own tumultuous childhoods.

High School Musical 3: Senior Year. Being a Disney film, I’m guessing no one ends up passed out in the back of a rented limo on prom night with her dress pulled up over her head and [...]

Ready or not, it’s officially awards season with the IFP announcing its nominees for the 18th Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards (formerly known as the Gotham Awards).
Several films that might be familiar to you if you’ve been reading LiC lately have been showered with a little early awards loving and [...]

The Watercooler: 10/20/08

Sally Hawkins and Alexis Zegerman in Happy-Go-Lucky
It was kind of an interesting if not altogether successful movie-going weekend at LiC.
First up was Mike Leigh’s Happy-Go-Lucky, a hard to categorize little number starring Sally Hawkins as Poppy, an eternally and somewhat irrationally optimistic London schoolteacher. When her bicycle is stolen, she’s forced into driving lessons with [...]

Weekend Forecast: 10/16/08

Hark. I hear the cannons roar. Is it the weekend approaching? It is. Let’s take a look at the new movie lineup.

W. Generally lukewarm reviews aren’t doing much to give me hope for Oliver Stone’s treatment of George W. Bush, but I still want to see some of the performances, especially Josh Brolin’s.
The Secret Life [...]
