An entertaining and refreshingly adult thriller that mostly overcomes the weaknesses of its source material with plenty of style and intelligence and a raft of excellent performances.

Production rumors and announcements are the bread and butter of many movie websites, but after awhile you start to realize that none of it really means anything until cameras are rolling. Want to see another Shutter Island trailer? I haven’t watched the other ones and I’m not watching this one, but don’t let that stop you. I’m told the second trailer was the same as the first. Had I watched either one, I might’ve known this.

I managed to avoid the first trailer for Martin Scorsese’s Shutter Island and I’m not about to break down and watch this one. I have no idea how it’s different than the first one, but enjoy.

Nikki Finke is reporting that Martin Scorsese’s upcoming Shutter Island starring Leonardo DiCaprio has been bumped from Oscar friendly October 2009 to February 19th, 2010.
According to a Finke insider, though the film tested in the 80s/low 90s (whatever that means), Paramount doesn’t have the coin to properly market an awards flick this year.
