Trailer: Iron Man 2

This is super old news by internet time, but I was in movies all afternoon and evening.
Even after a super hero-free summer (I skipped Wolverine), I’ve got to say I’m still experiencing super ennui. The Dark Knight pretty much satiated my need for dudes in costumes running around fighting other dudes in costumes. Is that [...]

That unpleasant sound you just heard was all of nerdkind collectively soiling their Spider-Man Underoos over the first image of Mickey Rourke in the upcoming Iron Man sequel.

The ever vigilant Nick Plowman of Fataculture just gave me the heads up to Anne Thompson’s Variety report that Fox Searchlight beat out Lionsgate, Overture, The Weinsteins, Sony and others for the rights to distribute Darren Aronofsky’s much praised film The Wrestler starring Mickey Rourke, Evan Rachel Wood and Marisa Tomei.
Which studio’s logo appears on the film [...]

Festival Hopping: Venice and Toronto

As Toronto fires up and Venice winds down, here’s a smattering of reviews of the higher profile films critics are talking about.
The Wrestler. Though he found the plot of Darren Aronofsky’s film predictable at times, THR’s Stephen Farber liked this story of a former wrestling star, especially the performances, calling Mickey Rourke’s a career-best:
“Rourke dispenses [...]
