Trailer 2: Robin Hood

A much better trailer for Robin Hood finally has me interested. The first trailer was terrible, but I can work with this one.
Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood starring Russell Crowe, Cate Blanchett, William Hurt, Matthew Macfadyen, Mark Strong, Danny Huston and Max von Sydow opens May 14.

Trailer: Robin Hood

Yet another trailer for a big summer movie that makes me want to run in the other direction.

Alien: Ridley says nothing, internet still wants to spoon him

Asked about his planned Alien prequel, Ridley Scott says nothing interesting and it is widely reported.

Russell Crowe on ‘Robin Hood’

Except in jest, I haven’t mentioned Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood since February when Cate Blanchett was lined up for the Maid Marian role (remember the semi-regular Production Notes column? Anyone miss it? No?).
Anyway, star Russell Crowe recently spoke to some douchey Australian morning news/chat tool and for some reason the interview struck me as interesting.

Ridley-go-Round: Gucci is go. Jolie in talks. DiCaprio approached

Ridley Scott reportedly moving forward with Gucci project. In talks with Angelina Jolie and has approached Leonardo DiCaprio. Script to be rewritten with an eye toward a 2010 start.

Is it really going to be a Brave New World for Leo and Ridley?

Rumors of Ridley Scott and Leonardo DiCaprio possibly bringing Aldous Huxley’s dystopian future classic Brave New World to the big screen might be closer than ever to becoming reality.

Can you hear me scream now?

So Ridley Scott is really going to make a prequel to Alien after all and he’s even planning to direct.

Ridley Scott Goes to Movie Jail

This is one of those news items that makes me check the calendar to see if it’s April Fool’s Day.
Apparently plans for a movie version of Monopoly, everyone’s favorite real estate game, have been kicking around Hollywood for awhile and Ridley Scott’s name was even attached as a producer. This morning I awake to find [...]

Weekend Forecast: 10/9/08

Wong Kar-Wai’s Ashes of Time Redux, opening in limited release
There isn’t much to get too excited about in the wide releases this weekend:

Body of Lies. A Ridley Scott thriller starring Leonardo DiCaprio as a CIA agent on the trail of a terrorist leader. He is guided from afar by CIA veteran Russell Crowe but with his life [...]

Ridley Scott’s Strange ‘Nottingham’ Casting Claim

In the few short months that I’ve been keeping tabs on daily movie news, Twilight pimping MTV has quickly positioned itself as the least reliable establishment source for news and the most likely to pass along unverified nonsense in the interest of page views. They didn’t originate the (probable) lie that Clooney would be The [...]
