Review: The Road (2009) ****

John Hillcoat’s adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s THE ROAD is bleak and despairing, but manages to offer a ray of hope without pulling any punches.

Jacques Audiard’s Palme d’Or runner-up A Prophet took the inaugural Star of London award at the just concluded BFI London Film Festival. John Hillcoat’s The Road received a special mention.

Last year around this time, The Road got bumped to 2009 and it wasn’t alone. Fanboys, Crossing Over, Kill Shot and Shanghai were all once set for 2008. The first three [...]

Also, [...]

Venice ‘09: Early reviews split on Hillcoat’s ‘The Road’

Variety, Screen Daily and The Guardian take the first look at John Hillcoat’s adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s The Road starring Viggo Mortensen.

Lynch/Herzog collaboration hits Toronto…Telluride first?

My Son My Son What Have Ye Done makes its Canadian premiere at Toronto. Does that mean Telluride comes first? Also: 18 more Toronto additions including world and North American premieres.

Trailer: The Road

Yahoo has the trailer for John Hillcoat’s upcoming Cormac McCarthy adaptation The Road starring Viggo Mortensen. I’m not watching it, but enjoy:

The Road opens October 16.

Esquire takes a drive down ‘The Road’

In addition to another infernal movie list that would be sure to make the list of 100 Stupidest Movie Lists ever compiled (The 75 Movies Every Man Should See? Come ON!), Esquire magazine has the first review I’ve seen of The Road, John (The Proposition) Hillcoat’s adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s Pulitzer Prize winning novel.
I don’t [...]
